Big Chief Tatonka - Ford F 250

Bill bought this American Ford F250 vintage pick-up on the French-Spanish border in September 09. It was in a sorry state, however, every piece of trim that was original to the car was either on it or in it. Bill drove it back to the UK, breaking down only once and then set to working on it.

Custom Bills repaired and primed all the dented panels then covered it in a coat of magenta-silver. Artwork was then added by Custom Bills. It was given 8 coats candyapple red with only 2 coats on the side inserts. Mechanically the vehicle was sound, it only needed minor work. The main work was the exterior bodywork and the interior trim, as this had started to melt due to it sitting in the sun for 7 years.

We have used a technique called water transfer printing after restoring the interior panels. Again, these were painted in a base red with a silver wash over the top. The seats and dashboard have been retrimmed by Car Connections in red ostrich skin substitute with silver inserts to match the exterior. The job was a full strip-down including dash out. We have sourced a set of 24"Oasis Hummer rims with chrome spinners. The highly corroded rims were sandblasted. and painted the same candyapple red to really set the chrome spinners against the red wheels and finished with a set of low profile tyres. This does not change the ride height in any shape or form, as the overall dimensions of the original wheel and tyre are the same as the Oasis rims.
